How can someone hack their brain for optimal SUCCESS?
There are many ways including: diet, brain optimizing workouts, practicing awareness, yoga, listening to classical music, and getting high quality sleep.
Today, we will be discussing how one can use binaural beats to optimize their success. First, we will go over what binaural beats are, the five brain waves, and how to use binaural beats.
What are binaural beats?
Binaural beats work by sending 2 different frequencies to each of our ears. When hearing these 2 frequencies simultaneously, the brain creates an illusion of a third sound – a rhythmic beat. For example, when a tone of 320 Hz is presented to the left ear and 360 Hz to the right ear, the person experiences hearing a tone that is 40 Hz frequency. When you listen to binaural beat, your brain activity matches the frequency set by the frequency of the beat. This is called the frequency-following effect. This means you can use binaural beats to entrain your mind to reach a certain mental state. Binaural beats takes advantage of our brains incredible ability to respond to sound.
Some potential benefits of binaural beats include:
- Reach a higher level of productivity.
- Get better sleep.
- Improve focus & memory retention.
- Reduce anxiety and improve mood.
- Enhances creativity.
- Enter a meditative state easier.
Understanding our brain waves can help us understand which binaural beats to listen to and when. Below there is a chart from Muse that gives you a visual of the brain waves.
1. Beta Waves
Normal waking conscious and alertness. This is where solving problems, over thinking, and feelings of anxiousness & excitement occur.
2. Alpha Waves
Physically and mentally relaxed. In this state, you are calm, relaxed, at ease, can easily learn, and are productive.
You can easily engage in activities because you are in a state of flow.
3. Theta Waves
Occurs when you are falling asleep and deep into meditation practices. Theta waves support intuition and vivid imagery.
Easier to learn, memorize, and retain information compared to your normal waking consciousness. In this state you experience reduced consciousness and insight. Perfect state for adding new programs into your subconscious. When you are in this state your subconscious mind is recording.
Great state for listening to 5 Hz binaural beats and listening to “I am” affirmations.
4. Delta Waves
Slowest and loudest existing waves. Can enter them in a deep sleep (dreamless) or deep meditative state. This is where inner change and repair happens. This is the lowest frequency state and it’s linked to access to the subconscious mind.
5. Gamma Waves
Heightened perception, learning, problem solving tasks, cognitive processes, attention to detail, and helping in recalling memory.
Listening to Binaural beats can help you attune to different frequencies, depending on the state that you want to get in to.
The faster the brain wave frequency, the higher level of alertness. The slower the brain wave frequency, the less alert a person is. Exposing people to certain frequencies of sound can result in brain wave entrainment, in which people’s brain waves tune to the same frequency as external stimuli. By listening to binaural beats of frequencies, one can induce a certain state of consciousness.
There are studies that have shown improvement on binaural beats positively effecting memory, creativity, and productivity.
Binaural beats may not work for everybody. Every person responds differently.
